Brighton Eats Delicious Cake
Brighton, as seaside town tucked between the South Downs and the English Channel, is a fabulous place to each cake!
In every window as your stroll along the Laines, you find wondrous displays of delicious edibles.
Fresh juices, organic salad bars, tasty and healthy snacks of all varieties are to be seen and enjoyed in Brighton.
42 is a great green juice locale as is You Juice. After a nutritious superfood shake or smoothie, why not a slice of decadent homemade cake!
I just can't get over how scrumptious the cakes on display look. Chocolate, Carrot, Chesse, you name it. Cake in every category. Vegan. Gluten-free.
For a little cleanse post indulgence, try an Himalayan Pink Salt gargle with the high grade stuff sold in 42's quaint shop.
Just take a walk along the North Laines and you'll find all this deliciousness. Have a sandwhich or croissant or perhaps, you fancy a lemon bar. Go for it. After all, you're on vacation, right? In one of the most beautiful and bountiful cities in the world.
Brighton, UK.
P.S. Once you get your goodies, head down to the beach and cozy up with a picnic lunch by sea.

Juice, Fruit & Roots
My business partner and I have started a juice bar in the Ikoyi section of Lagos, Nigeria. We serve freshly squeezed mango, pineapple, watermelon, coconut and orange juice. Added to the mix, if you'd like a smoothie, are bananas, papaya, and moringa powder for an extra nutritional boost.
On some nights, we also have palm wine available and moringa leaf tea w/ local honey. If you want something truly potent and incredibly healing try our special raw quail egg, moringa oil, pineapple, mango cocktail. It sure beats alcoholic mixes for a drink to elevate you mind, body and soul.
The decor of our juice bar is designed in collaboration with local artists and craftspeople, with the traditional Nigerian architecture in mind. Our bar is open air where you can enjoy the musical sounds wafting out from the live shows inside. We also have grilled fish, okro soup and eba available on select evenings. Come and join us!

Rosemary
"The wonderful smell of rosemary is often associated with good food and great times. But it could just as easily be associated with good health. Rosemary contains substances that are useful for stimulating the immune system, increasing circulation and improving digestion. Rosemary also contains anti-inflammatory compounds that may make it useful for reducing the severity of asthma attacks. In addition, rosemary has been shown to increase the blood flow to the head and brain, improving concentration. So, the next time you enhance the flavor of some special dish with rosemary, congratulate yourself for a wise as well as delicious choice." whfoods.com

The Candida Cleanse
Are you tired all the time, with frequent headaches, foggy thinking and craving sugar? Do you suffer from bloating, food allergies or feelings of depression? Have you had an almost constant runny nose, cough or watery eyes? Are you hyper-sensitive to chemical smells, fumes or perfumes? If so, then you might have Candida, an overgrowth of yeast, naturally occurring in the body, that spiral out of control due to an unhealthy diet and stressful lifestyle. I talk about this in detail in the following video, Anti-Candida Arsenal Part 1:
When the good bacteria in your body get compromised due to the onslaught of toxins produced by fried foods, processed sugars, white flour products, coffee and alcohol, the bad bacteria, read: yeasts, then multiply and over-run your digestive system. If left unchecked or after a dose of antibiotics, these parasitic yeasts can take over your whole body. And once they are entrenched in colonies within you no amount of supplementation will suffice until they are starved of the food they feed off of.
So what does it feel like to be ruled by Candida? Well, it doesn't feel good. That is, unless you're overdosing on sugar, bread, alcohol or loads of sweetened, milk-laden lattes. The parasitic yeasts love these things and will feast happily on them, giving you a short break from the draining effects of the die-off toxins they emit.
And not only are these unfriendly bacteria thriving off of your bad food choices, they are literally causing you to crave these unhealthy fake eats. After they really begin to multiply, even healthy food becomes a problem, because the yeasts can feed on sugar of all kinds, simple and complex. That means fruit will incite them, as will beans, whole wheat bread, sweet vegetables and the list goes on!
When these unwanted guests proliferate and wreak havoc on your body they compromise your immune system to the nth degree and shake the very foundations of your physical and mental health. A lot of the mental illness popping up these days like ADD, OCD and Bi-polar disorders are being shown to have correlates with a candida infested body. MCS, environmental illness and gluten intolerance can also be traced to the overgrowth of parasitic organisms.
There is a simple experiment to find out where you stand with candida in relation to the good and friendly bacteria that should predominate in your system. Fill a glass with water and spit in it first thing in the morning before ingesting anything. Watch the glass for a half hour or so; and if you notice tendrils or 'legs' stretching down from the floating saliva and these tendrils remain for a time, then finally settle in a cloudy mass at the bottom of the glass, then you know Candida is out of control in your body and you need to take action.
Who wants to live with these critters inside, eating up all the food you ingest and causing all sorts of ailments as they flourish. No one!
So, here's what you do. Get lots of sun, do yoga, swim in the ocean...
And begin an anti-candida diet that starves the yeasts so that your healthy intestinal flora can thrive. Here is the most simple, clear plan for doing so~
Step 1
Eliminate all sugars, dairy and carbohydrates from your diet until your symptoms minimize. This means no cheese, bread, sweets, or fruit. Also, stay away from legumes, nuts, most grains, and all processed meats/pork.
Step 2
Flood your body with probiotics to repopulate it with good bacteria. Examples are organic plain, cultured goat milk yogurt, raw kombucha, organic kim chi or sauerkraut and high quality supplements like Flora Smart.
Step 3
Infuse your system with anti-fungal herbs like ginger, garlic, echinacea, black walnut, pau d'arco, cinnamon, cloves, cayenne, oregano oil and turmeric, so that the yeasts have nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.
Once you start feeling rejuvenated and you will; i.e, lots of energy, a clear mind, a peaceful spirit and little or no cravings for sugar or carbs, you can rest assured that your body is back in balance. To maintain this balance, omit processed sugary foods and drinks, fried foods, GMO foods and stay with a whole food, nutrient dense, immune-enhancing eating style for all the healthy, happy days to come. Check out my Heal Love Now Store for the full anti-candida arsenal.
A sample daily anti-candida diet may look like this initially, as you will want to maintain your strength as the Candida begin to die-off.:
Breakfast
Avocado Salad w/ Arugula
Chopped Avocado
Chopped Heirloom Tomatoes
Spritz of fresh organic Lemon
Sprinkle of Himalayan Sea Salt
Dash of dried Organic Oregano
Chopped clove of Garlic
Mix and place on a bed of Arugula
Enjoy!
Lunch
Angeled Eggs w/ Celery
2 Boiled organic free-range Eggs, chopped (Use 1/2 cup pre-cooked lentils instead, as Veg option)
1 Tbls of organic cold pressed Sesame Oil
Sprinkle of Himalayan Sea Salt
Sprinkle of Cayenne Pepper
2 Ribs of organic Celery, cut in quarters
Mix first 4 ingredients and use Celery to dip.
Enjoy!
Dinner
Grilled Wild Salmon w/ Quinoa
1 Wild Salmon Fillet (Use 1 cup Shiitake Mushrooms instead, as Vegetarian option)
1 Tbls Organic Lemon Juice
1 clove of chopped Garlic
1 Tsp Ground Ginger
1/2 Tbls Organic cold pressed Coconut Oil
Sprinkle of Himalayan Sea Salt
I cup cooked Quinoa
1 Tsp Turmeric
Marinate Salmon in next 5 ingredients for 20 minutes, then broil at 475 degrees for 12 minutes or until cooked through. Cook Quinoa with turmeric and a bit of sea salt and serve. Enjoy!
After your initial detox where you starve the candida yeasts of sugar and your system comes into more balance, try a 7 day water fast, which I chronicle here. Upon completing the fast, you can then switch things up, so the fungal form of candida doesn't rear its ugly head and is fully uprooted and cleansed from your body. A low fat regimen is the perfect way to mix it up, as candida can also feed on the sugar resulting from excess fat in the body. In this next phase you would focus on eating vegetables, low-glycemic fruits and little to no fat.
For more detailed information and guidelines, see my Candida Secrets article here and here. And Part 2 of my Anti-Candida Arsenal video goes into healing aids, in addition to diet, which rid the body of candida overgrowth.

Miracle Tree
There are superfoods in our own backyard! Moringa, otherwise known as the Tree of Life, is one of the most amazing plants available and although it thrives in the tropical climates of Africa and parts of Asia, it can also be grown in the U.S. Check out my video detailing the making of a pot of Moringa tea!
Currently, all the rave in Europe as a miracle tree, Moringa Oleifera, is also called Nedebaye.
This wonder food is being touted as one of the most nutrient packed plants on the planet, with more vitamins and minerals than spinach, more antioxidants like vitamin C than oranges and the ability to combat just about every disease known to man. It also has 4 times the amount of calcium found in milk and the highest protein ratio of any plant so far studied on earth! Some of Moringa’s known super properties include, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic and anti-viral. And according to a very popular New York City living-food enthusiast, Moringa is the new “It” super food, more hip than Acai, Spirulina, and Chia Seeds, combined."
US
medical researchers from the National Institute of Health, have found
this powerful plant to be effective in lowering blood pressure, reducing
the appearance of wrinkles, boosting the immune system, promoting
digestion, nourishing the eyes, balancing cholesterol levels, and the
list goes on. It has been dubbed the “tree of life,” which is spoken of
in the Revelations book of the Bible. This is a tree that we can grow
in our own backyards!
Moringa can be taken as a tea or in capsule form. A sun tea brew is awesome.
It can also be added to soups, stews and smoothies. To order organic, fair-trade Moringa hand-picked and dried on a beautiful farm in West Africa go to Miracle Tree. Try this simple recipe for Moringa Delight as your morning breakfast boost.
1 Tablespoon Moringa powder or dried leaves
1 Cup chopped Pineapple
1 Cup chopped frozen Banana
1 Cup chopped Papaya
1 Cup fresh Coconut Water
1 Tbls Agave
Blend all ingredients until smooth and Enjoy!

Wild Food
Fermented and living foods are to the body what a wild ocean breeze is to the spirit and soul - cleansing and revitalizing. We need to fill our bodies with spirited food in order for it to maintain its natural exuberance and vitality. In essence, what we eat must be alive if we are to fully inhabit our bodies and live in them wholly. Many healthy shops are sprouting up to serve our holistic dietary needs. Organic Avenue in NYC is such a place, where one can find tasty living food on the go. Though still, simpler is better and if you can, take time to prepare basic meals yourself, in the comfort of your own home. Fruit is always a great way to prepare the system for more bio-active foods, as it clears and refreshes the system and upstarts it for cleansing on deeper levels. A day in the life of of a wild food connnoiseur may look a bit like this...
Green and purple grapes for breakfast to flush out the body and lubricate it with the vitamin-rich, pure water that makes up these simple yet sweet gems.
Then, a bunch of just picked wild kale paired with a few delectable heirloom tomatoes grown organically on a local farm. Eating greens fresh and tender this way helps to sweep the digestive system and make way for the activation of the tissues and cells with living nutrients.
Later on for lunch, it's salad again. This time the live ingredients are richer and more varied. There's arugula and radish for their bitter astringent qualities, cucumber and squash blossoms for their purifying components and green onion for its antioxidant factors.
For those who need a bit more protein after an active day, dinner can include a fritatta made with fresh and local free range eggs paired with more salad, even richer than the last. Organic carrots, red cabbage and more heirloom tomatoes round out this nutrition-packed boost for the body.
Add some delicious olives cured with rosemary and orange peel and you have a feast for the gods.
Another great addition to a dynamic salad - homemade pickled peppers. Sliced jalapenos in a broth of lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and olive oil marinated for a few days in the refrigerator will produce a most delectable spicy pickle and elevate your already vibrant meal to new heights.
The real magic, however, comes in when you add fermented specialities like, Wildbrine sauerkraut, teeming with probiotics and friendly bacteria. All the cleansing that you've stirred up within, courtesy of the grapes, and began flushing out with the greens can now be fully activated by the wild living food.
The Madras Curry lends that South Asian flavor to your salad. While the Arame & Ginger infuses each bite with a zen palate.
One of the vital aspects of digestion, which eating wild foods enhances, is enzymatic activity. Without enzymes food doesn't get properly digested, and raw, living foods provide loads of these essential enzymes. A good way to supplement, after years of depriving the body of all the wonderful natural foods it thrives on, is to take Raw Enzymes directly.
In addition, Flor-Essence, is a wonderful healer of an over-taxed digestive system that is loaded with un-assimilated, toxic material. An elixir of 8 wild-crafted herbs believed by the Obijiwa Indians to be a "Holy drink that purified the body and mind." Yes, this tisane will definitely aid in the process of re-invigorating the wild essence of your body.
And for all the fresh, wild greens that you didn't get to eat, this superfood mix of Digestive Greens is a great enhancer as you begin to incorporate more nutrient packed green foods into your dietary repertoire.
