Heavenly Quail Eggs

Raw quail eggs as a path to rejuvenation - who would have thought! According to ancient Chinese healing secrets, the benefits of consuming quail eggs include: healing infertility, curing diabetes and increasing sexual potency. These tiny protein-packed, nutritional powerhouses can help reduce body fat, cure asthma in children and improve memory and brain function. Having three per day will insure that the immune system is strong, the liver and kidneys are functioning optimally and the digestive tract is well maintained. Quail eggs contain vitamins A, D, B1, B2, B6, B12, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, zinc, iron, copper and many other micro-nutrients, minerals and amino acids necessary for a long, healthy, vibrant life.

"Adding quail eggs in your diet makes your body an environment unsuitable for cancer growth. This is because of the highly alkaline property of the quail eggs."  - Feather Buzz

Organic Bath

There is nothing like taking a hot steamy bath, filled with herbs and floral oils, when it's a snowy 22 degrees outside. Bath time is so luxurious and a daily must for a life well-lived. Get in there, you must, and linger in a spacious tub, soaking up all the delicious bath treats added to the water. Lay back as the divine elixir envelopes you in its warmth and sensual aroma. Steep like a tea bag in all the herbs, dried flowers and salts dissolving about you.

Light a fire, too.

A very special bath treat is, EO Bath Salts, made with tangerine, coconut and vanilla essential oils and Himalayan sea salt to help alkalize the water.

Pour in some organic milk or add Storybook Farm's Soothing Soak potion with oatmeal, powdered milk, hops and lavender. The hops will make you feel so relaxed, as if you, too, are dissolving into the warm soapy water. Look for it at the lovely Stockton Market in NJ.

For lots of bubbles, use a delicious bubble bath like deep steep Tangerine Melon Honey Bubble Bath. The scent is so delightful and the creamy texture, so wonderful!

And last, but not least, pour in some Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile Soap for the most amazingly refreshing fragrance of minty goodness.

Neal's Yard Remedies

Making my way around Covent Garden in London several years ago, I discovered a wonderful little shop which epitomizes all the things that I love about eco-business.

Neal's Yard Remedies grew out of a desire to offer all natural, organic, fair trade and green body care products. After perusing this idyllic shop, nestled in a leafy corner of the Garden, I took home a bevy of amazing products that I treasured until their last drop.

Over the years, I waxed poetic to my friends and family about the quaint little shop in London and its wonderful line of organic skin care, packaged in practical yet beautiful cobalt blue bottles. Whenever, I found myself in London, I would always make my way to Covent Garden to relish in remedies of Neal's Yard.

Most auspiciously, these fine products are now being made available stateside and I cannot rave enough about them. Check us out at us.nyrorganic.com/shop/Siaalexander

There is something for everyone, children, women and men. I love all the Rehydrating Rose Collection, and especially the Rose Facial Elixir. If you try only one of these luscious creams, try this one.

Or this one.

Equally outstanding is the Rejunvenating Frankincense Collection.

The Frankincense Hydrating Cream for mature skin has the most incredible aroma and such a silky feel.

The Baby Massage Oil is so wonderful for the little ones

And even the men can enjoy a facial grooming set formulated with green coffee beans and Dead Sea salts.

I tend to be sensitive to anything artificial and Neal's Yard Remedies have nothing questionable in their ingredient list and actually live up to being called remedies. The varying products do work and with enticing scents, all organic and pure, they are unmatched. Here is one of their older adverts and it says it all!

Acupuncture

Yesterday, I experienced an exceptional Acupuncture treatment with Dr. Shin-Yang Chen in Melbourne Beach, Fl.

I have had acupuncture before, but never like this. His healing energy was palpable the moment I met him and things just got better and better. The key to acupuncture is that there are points along our body meridians that, when stimulated, balance the flow of energy or chi within us. This balance is equal to optimal health. When we don't have it, our chi is stuck and our blood stagnant, hence we experience disease and ill health.

Dr Chen took the traditional practice a step further by incorporating Electro Acupuncture where each needle, after being inserted into the appropriate points, is attached to an electrode. A subtle current is turned on and runs through the energy points, further stimulating proper chi flow and balance. It is not painful, though you do feel a pulsing sensation.

As I lay there with those currents pulsating through my body meridians, I truly felt like I was floating off the table. Then, when I thought I could not reach a peace greater, Dr. Chen removed the needles and began a massage of my neck, temples and shoulder blades with deep penetrating strokes and Chinese herbal oils. I can only say that you must, when in town, go and see him. It was profound.

Later, I was given a cupping treatment that just put the icing on the cake of the whole experience. This is a suction method where cups are placed on your back and then, through heat or manually, a vacuum is created with your skin that draws out impurities by increasing blood flow.

According to www.cuppingtherapy.info, "Cupping therapy or Hijama has been utilized for centuries to cure illnesses. Hijama was used for thousands of years by Pharaohs and ancient Egyptians. It was also used by ancient Chinese, Greek and all old civilizations. The oldest recorded medical textbook, Ebers Papyrus, written in approximately 1550 BCE in Egypt mentions cupping."

Our ancestors knew so much intuitively and spiritually that today's scientific research cannot even begin to understand and decode. The way I felt when I got up from my full treatment, is indescribable. The wisdom of the ages had granted me a healing opportunity of a lifetime. I am still glowing and charged and filled with joy from the lightness my body achieved, due to these detoxifying and balancing procedures. I left with an herbal medicine made for me on the premises by Dr. Chen's wife and an appointment to return next week, not to mention the most exuberant, lithe, happy and peaceful body, mind and spirit. Here I am at the ocean after my treatment.

And here is my delicious dinner.

And the best milk imaginable, non-dairy and organic Brazil Nut Milk!

Creative Energy

I love to create things and right now I am in a sort of creative whirlwind. There is this energy moving in and through me that is compelling me to make things. Where in the past if I thought I needed something, I would run to the store and buy it or order it from Amazon.com; now, I delight in finding a way to do it myself - and using elements I already have around the house, no less. I have been having so much fun and become so inspired that I, literally, can't stop creating. The other day, after looking through Whole Living magazine which had a wonderful article on the creator of Farmaesthetics, I was inspired to start making some herbal tinctures.

I looked online for some top brands and then checked out the selection at the health food store. However, something in me kept saying, you can do it yourself, Sia. So, so true. I have tons of dried herbs and loads of pretty glass bottles at home, not to mention tons of creative energy...

I decided to start with White Willow Bark, a great tonic herb and the natural origin of aspirin. Herbal tinctures can be made with alcohol or vinegar. For my first herbal medicinal, I chose Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.

The process was really easy and so fulfilling. Basically, you decant the herb in the vinegar. The results were amazing and I have been taking 2 teaspoons daily of this wonderful brew. I also made an herbal bath tea using Espsom Salts, Rose Petals, Lavender, Basil and Mint. You put a bit of the mixture in a cloth towel and tie it with a string, then place it in your tub of hot bath water. Ahhhh.

On a roll, I decided to make some Rose Water which I absolutely love. I usually buy the Heritage Rosewater,

but this time I simply used some dried rose petals from roses I'd bought several months ago and some purified water.

I mixed them in a glass jar then heated the jar in a double boiler. I let it sit in the sun for about a week and look I what I am blessed with!

It smells so delicious and I just love it. I also made a mint and basil version using dried herbs from my summer gardern and an African Shea Butter cream with Clove essential oil. I even did a small batch of Rose Oil! On all the jars, I put a LOVE label. According to Masaru Emoto in The Hidden Messages in Water, water molecules respond to energy, thoughts, and words. He did an experiment where he said 'I love you' to bottles of water and then looked at the water under an microscope. He found that the 'loved' water had such a beautiful crystalline structure compared to water not so lovingly addressed. This was also true for water in bottles with loving labels. So, I snuggled my jars with a lot of love and set them in the sun. So far, they've been a joy to use on both myself and my daughter.

Next, I ventured into candlemaking. I used 100% pure Soy wax, Lemon essential oil and Rosemary essential oil. My daughter helped and we found the whole experience really exciting. Our dipped candles came out somewhat assymetrical, but with a lot of character and a splendid fragrance!

The pillars came out beautifully and when we lit them, they miraculously burned into a heart shape! I guess all that love really did have an affect!

All this crafting got us pretty hungry and so we came up with a great recipe for a spring Frittata using organic free range eggs, chopped garlic and parsley. We combined all the ingredients and baked it in my favorite iron cast dutch oven. What a delight!
